I have been desperately trying to learn tennis off and on for 7? 8? years now. I have three kids under 5 so between the constant pregnancy and postpartum it's been next to impossible but I am determined to make it happen this summer! Can't wait to read.
I relate to this so deeply! I also decided to learn tennis after 40 and it’s so humbling. I’ve often said I have been mediocre at most sports, but adding a racquet is a whole different game! (Pun intended) i love that even the best of the best players make mistakes every match and the difference is how we handle them. Tennis is always filled with so many life lessons! Can’t wait to keep reading.
Just signed up for your newsletter! I’m excited to read it. I started taking a beginner’s class in 10/2025 through my local parks and rec group after having not picked up a racket in over a decade! It’s been great experience and have met a great group of women to play tennis with outside of classes.
So looking forward to reading! I have always loved tennis but never played with any consistency or regularity until the last six months (I also happened to turn 40 in January). Now I play a few times a week and love it so much.
I am very excited for this and will try not to inject pickleball into every comment I make here (except this one)!!
What’s pickleball?
Yay you did it, Doree! Happy to see this newsletter out in the world after hearing about it on the pod :) 🎾
Ahh, thank you!

You can do it!
I ALSO have taken up tennis as an over-40, although I just started and never played before. I love this.
Welcome welcome!
Also a midlife tennis obsessive (relatively new to the game and very mediocre) and I can’t get enough. Very excited for this newsletter!
Yay! Thank you!
Forwarded this to two tennis playing friends!
Thank you!!!

Love this so much!
I mostly take my kid to the court and we serve and volley until we’re exhausted. But I do enjoy being on the court and maybe we’ll try playing games!
I feel like if you can both serve and volley you're well on your way to playing a match!
I am SO excited about this Doree!

Women finding joy doing sports at any level is one of my favorite things. I'm looking forward to this newsletter. Thanks for starting it!
